Troubleshooting Resolution Below 1080p on Tesla GPUs
When the display resolution is lower than 1080p on a Tesla GPU instance, the most common cause is that the GPU is not properly licensed. In this case, the system may not expose the expected display capabilities until the correct NVIDIA GRID license configuration is applied. ## Cause ### 1. The Tesla GPU Is Not Properly Licensed If the Tesla GPU is not activated with the correct license, the available display resolution may be limited. ### 2. The Wrong License Type Is Configured For the vApp license used in this deployment scenario, the GPU must be configured to use the correct DWS-related license settings on Windows. Reference documentation: [NVIDIA GRID Licensing Guide](https://docs.nvidia.com/grid/latest/grid-software-quick-start-guide/index.html#configuring-nls-licensed-client-on-windows) ## Solution Follow these steps to configure the correct license mode on Windows. ### 1. Add `FeatureType` Configure the required `FeatureType` setting for the NVIDIA licensed client. ### 2. Copy the Client Configuration Copy the client configuration file to the correct location according to the NVIDIA licensing guide. ### 3. Restart the `NvDisplayContainer` Service After the configuration is updated, restart the `NvDisplayContainer` service so the new license settings can take effect. ### 4. Verify the Result After the service restarts, check whether the display resolution can now be set to 1080p or higher. ## Notes - This issue is usually related to GPU licensing rather than a physical fault in the Tesla GPU. - If the resolution is still below 1080p after applying the license configuration, confirm that the correct license type is assigned and that the client configuration file is valid. - If needed, compare the current configuration with the official NVIDIA licensing documentation linked above.
